Thank God We Weren’t Born Dogs
Having seen the family-oriented movie “Cheaper by the Dozen” a couple of years ago I could not forget this one funny scene. In the movie the family with 12 children had to move to a new home because of the father’s new job opportunity as a college football coach. As the film goes to a short part where the kids take in their new surroundings, a shot cuts across the street where an executive-looking woman talking on her cellphone is straining to keep hold on a leash that was apparently tied to a running kid.
It was a very funny scene but disturbing, one in which you can’t seem to decide if you should laugh or not. But as a Steve Martin film a lot of audiences had let that pass. It is supposed to be a comedy film after all. And we know that a true and loving parent will never tie a leash on her child. If there is a need to take out the children for a bit of sunshine, parents will frequently use baby strollers and certainly not something as inhumane as a leash.
Because of that clip I was even more thankful to whoever invented baby strollers. With this simple and often taken for granted device, taking care of children becomes a bit easier. Human rights activists and children’s welfare advocates now have less to worry about because of baby strollers.
Baby strollers have now become more helpful than we could have ever imagined. It enables parents to still become hands-on in caring for their children without sacrificing other important activities. They’ve been highly useful in keeping up with the demands of both parenting and the fast clock and multitasking trend of the modern world.
One good example for the helpful convenience of baby strollers is the manufacture of jogging strollers. The design of these strollers make it possible for parents and guardians to exercise and go jogging while babysitting. While they get to enjoy their run, young kids will surely enjoy the exhilarating ride. As for dogs, the ultimate pet lovers might consider using the jogging strollers and strap in their dogs. But for average pet owners, especially if dogs aren’t well trained, leashes should be in order. And in these cases the dog might do the walking and leading instead of his owner.
Most baby strollers now come with detachable seats that may be converted into car seats. Because of this children are able to safely ride a car and their guardians will have an easier time watching them while minding the road at the same time. If it were dogs riding in the car, they surely can’t be forced to be strapped down securely. And by what, pray tell, a seat belt? By experience, any such attempt will not be easily taken by the dog who will probably prefer to jump off the car window.
