Fantasy Basketball Update for 2009
With the basketball season about to start, many fantasy basketball leagues have begun to form. Some are in the midst of drafting as we speak. If yours is coming up, I hope you should be lucky enough to end up with a top pick. If you are, there are some great options this year.
On the other hand, deciding who to go with at number one might be a bit of a challenge. Who to pick really depends on your needs, but let’s take a look at the possibilities.
First of all, there’s Chris Paul. He was hands down the number one fantasy player two seasons ago, and he wasn’t much worse at all last year.
People love Paul’s exceptional stats, especially when it comes to his assists and his defense. There’s truly no one better in either area, and these stats will surely anchor a team in the assists and steals departments.
If you’re looking for someone bigger, there’s always LeBron James, thought by many to be the best ordinary basketball player. LeBron’s well-rounded style suits fantasy teams really well. No forward gets more assists than James does.
LeBron can also score points as well as anyone in the league, and even shoots a number of threes. This is generally hard to get from someone at the forward position, especially considering the fact that he blocks shots too.
Next on the list of possibilities is Kobe Bryant, a personal favorite of many NBA fans. Bryant’s stats are similar to LeBron’s, only he has less turnovers and a better free throw percentage, giving him a more well rounded appeal.
Some may even choose to go with a sleeper pick like Kevin Durant or Danny Granger, both fine options as well. Ultimately, the decision is yours and it all depends on the stat categories you’re going after and who appeals to you. As they say, go with your gut.
