Improving your golf swing is one of the most important factors in improving your game. Without a good swing, you are sunk before you start. Improving your golf swing begins and ends with you. The training of the muscles of your body to properly perform specific movements takes time and practice. Going to the range and hitting more golf balls won’t cut it. Hitting more balls may create additional bad behaviors and strengthen an improper swing. I found that the more buckets of balls I hit at the driving range the worse my swing and anger level became.
The three cornerstones for every good golf swing includes grip, stance and posture. No matter your skill level, most golfers having difficulty with their swing are doing something wrong related to their grip, stance or posture.
Grip the club a little looser as this will also allow you to generate the most club head speed since you will also create the most lag. Lag refers to the size of the angle made by the club and your left hand during the downswing.
Approaching the ball changes in differing situations. For example, if you are teeing off, in the fairway or in a sand trap, in most instances hitting the ball farther typically equals less par golf and an improved game overall. Nobody wants to come up short and see their ball end up in a hazard like the rough or sand trap each time they’re on the course.
Distance is determined by the golf swing speed along with a few other mechanics involved in the swing such as balance and form. While not every golfer that hits the long ball is overly large, the impact they can place on the ball is huge. Club head speed is directly related to distance.
What inhibits swing speed for most golfers? Most golfers grip the club too tightly resulting in less lag and slower club speed. In addition, incorrect swing technique and form contributes to slower swing speed.
Increasing your swing speed and you increase your distance. It does not matter how old you are or what your current skill level, increasing the power outputs of the body will enhance club head speed. Power outputs of the body can be improved through golf fitness exercises and proper technique.
